I’ve been a freelance artist for over 3 years, and have created works for a variety of clients. This includes oil paintings and drawings covering a diverse group of subjects. Bio
Valerie Hannan is a fine artist living and working on the east coast of Scotland. Valerie was born in 1969 in Dundee, Scotland and studied at Dundee College and Duncan Of Jordanstone School Of Art And Design in the 1990’s. Valerie works from her studio in Fife on the banks of the river Tay. She has exhibited in several exhibitions including

A solo show in her studio in Dundee, Portrait For Our NHS Heroes

My vision is to create beautiful art that people can enjoy every day in their homes. I am passionate about art and in particular that it be accessible for everyone and because of this I will provide a variety of original pieces and prints of varying sizes to appeal to all budgets. Because I take such pride in my work, I will endeavour to always produce the highest standard of artworks.

Mission Statement
My art practice typically consists of oil painting on prepared paper, and an exploration and study of everyday objects and my local surroundings and their physical relationships to each other. I am most often lost in the process of painting. A period of introspection and the pursuit of personal passions has led to looking more closely at the intimate forms and spatial harmonies present in my everyday life. The painting process is an experimental conversation, and the use of oil paint showcases the outstanding facility with which fusion of tones or colour can be achieved. With regards to subject matter, its true that so called traditional painting has fallen in and out of favour several times over in the recorded history of art, however it has consistently endured. This is of course entirely due to the skill of the artist, Picasso, Lichtenstein, Cézanne, Renoir, to name but a few, and their ability to make even the most mundane subjects transform into masterpieces. I very much pursue and enjoy the elevation process that can come from placing a subject of seemingly insignificant value or interest into spotlight of a painters lense. Valerie Hannan 2022
